Canberra to Goulburn bus route?

neurotic_gal 31 May 2008 7

Given the recent rises in petrol I’ve been catching the bus to/from work on days when I don’t need my car.

Anyways, whilst waiting at Belconnen bus interchange for my bus home, I’ve often noticed a white coach pulling into the Interchange but not stopping at any of the bays – it sometimes pulls to the right of the bus lane. I don’t think it takes on any passengers at Belconnen. It has “Goulburn” on its destination tag.

Does such a bus service exist? Obviously Murrays and Greyhound would do such services on their routes to Sydney, but this bus doesn’t have any tags on it for either of these companies…it is a plain white bus.

Do people catch it? Are there many people out there who would work in Canberra but live so far away as Goulburn? I mean obviously commuter towns in nearby NSW would be Yass, Queanbeyan, Bungendore, Sutton, not to mention Royalla and Williamsdale and I have heard of someone commuting from Gunning each day for work, but Goulburn????

I know/ have met quite a few people who live in Goulburn and work in canberra, Also a lot of students from goulbourn do work placements in hospitals and child care centers in canberra. Its really not that far, not much different than Yass really.

Plenty of people commute to ACt from Cooma, Goulburn, Gunning, Yass, you name it. Commuting from Qbn to Braidwood is quite a commute!

I live in Qbn and work in Braidwood. Until recently, there was a guy who commuted to my work at Braidwood from Goulburn.

I don't know anyone else who drive the same way as I do daily, but many of my colleagues have spouses who drive from Braidwood to Canberra for work.

Goulburn to Canberra is a much nicer drive either early morning or in the evening than Yass...

A lot of people catch it, not all of them regularly, a lot of young people who want to get from Goulburn, a decent sized city of around 25000, into Canberra where all the action is.. I've caught it and my cousin catches it pretty often.
