Andrew Barr is letting us know he’s found an extra $250,000 per year for a “performance agreement” with the Canberra Capitals.

This of course is on top of what we pay the Capitals through Transact and ActewAGL.

The Agreement, worth $250,000 per annum for three years, will build on the existing annual support provided to the Capitals. As a three-year funding arrangement it will provide Basketball ACT with greater confidence to further develop the Capitals program and invest in the grass roots.

The Capitals have set a benchmark in Australian women’s basketball with a level of success and professionalism that is unsurpassed. The Government’s strengthened partnership will help the Capitals raise the bar further, while also helping Basketball ACT use the strength of the Caps brand to promote and develop the sport in the ACT and our region.

But with all the money we hose over men’s sport why not give the ladies a go?
