Well it’s official…. there will be Xmas Carols at Norwood Park this year. Gives a whole new meaning to the festive season.

The ad on tele last night said that Simon Gallaher, Marina Prior, Lonnie Lee (thought she was dead…well considering the venue, say no more)) and Bob Downe are starring.

Some locals are also performing including a local school choir and of course Santa.

Not a bad line-up!

Now in a major coup….it is also being televised by Foxtel and Channel 10 and on 2CC.

Apparently, there will be no charge to attend but they will be selling showbags with proceeds going to the Cancer support group.

Mick Rice, the crematorium’s boss, would make a great Santa….should be congratulated on a great concept….if not a tad spooky!

Watch out where you sit on the night.

MICK RICE the CEO of Norwood Park is to be congratulated..a wonderful idea for a wonderful night

Isn’t this terrific – and what a cast (btw Lonnie Lee is a he)- and all free entry, I’ve seen the site where “Carols in the Park” is to be held on the Eastern side of Norwood Park, sweeping views over Civic down the valley to Woden and out to the Brindabellas. There is actually no memorials anywhere near here and the site is approx 13,000 square metres of gently sloping manicured grassland. Well done Mick Rice and his team out there, I even hear on the vine that “Carols in the Park” 2006 planning is already underway. I encourage all of you to get out to the Park and have a great time – besides Sydney’s and Melbourne’s Carols – this will be the only other Carols event screened on television, C’MON Canberra – get out there and show ’em.

Remember… it is not snow falling gently from the furnance chimney…

Will it be smoke-free?

Its nice to see that some events are being held in the dead centre of Canberra…
