Noodle Cafe
Since I’ve been doing Cheap Eats reviews, I’ve had about a bazillion people (OK, maybe closer to 5 or 6) tell me I should review the Noodle Cafe in Garema Place. I put it off for so long because I thought it was too obvious, not really a hidden gem etc. I eventually came to the realisation that I haven’t been there, so there are probably plenty of people who haven’t been there either!

I sped off to Noodle Cafe in the last 10 minutes of my lunch break after a PT session at the gym, because what better way to undo all my hard work than with a delicious high calorie lunch?

I wandered in and was immediately greeted by a very cheerful staff member. She showed me the lunch specials menu which had about 10 or so options from laksa, to pad thai, to mongolian chicken. I opted for the latter. Mongolian chicken and rice set me back a modest $11, with an extra $2.50 for a cheeky can of Coke Zero.

Noodle Cafe takeaway

I opted for takeaway as I had to zip back to work, and when I opened it all up I discovered that they also gave me a heap of prawn chips! Best day ever. I love prawn chips. No idea if these are included in the lunch special or if the employee just gave me a kind freebie. Either way, it was a welcome surprise.

The Mongolian chicken was good. Not amazing, but it was decent. Lots of chicken, lots of sauce, and a fair few veggies. If I had to make one complaint, it would be that the capsicum pieces were too thick. I like finely slice vegetables. It’s not a major issue though, the rest of the dish was fine.

They crammed a lot of food into that one container – I couldn’t finish it! For $11, I’m keen to try out the rest of the Noodle Cafe lunch menu.

Well, 11$ lunch is a pretty good deal 🙂
Noodles were surely good .

Try the upstairs Thai/Chinese lunch place, can’t remember the name, on the opposite side of Garema Place.

Nothing flash either but certainly edible and I think cheaper. They don’t mind you sitting down to eat with plate and cutlery, making it less of a take away.

Yes, the prawn chips come with every meal. Also, the mongolian chicken is probably the worst thing on that lunch menu. Let me give you a tip: when a restaurant is called “Noodle Cafe”, order noodles. Trust me, they do good noodles. And for $11 in Canberra, it’s good value.

Haha, if that’s the worst thing then everything else must be pretty good!
