Chief Minister holidayed in the south of france with data tampering Kate Jackson

johnboy 1 August 2012 72

The Canberra Times is all over Chief Minister Gallagher’s late admission that she’s been on hols in 2010 with the only identified member of the Canberra Hospital health statistics scandal.

Chief Minister Katy Gallagher spent time during a 2010 overseas holiday with the Canberra Hospital executive who later confessed to tampering with emergency department data.

Ms Gallagher confirmed last night she had seen Kate Jackson during a trip to the south of France but only because they were both visiting Ms Gallagher’s sister.

In case the stench of this case wasn’t already strong enough for you.

UPDATE 01/08/12 09:24: The ABC is carrying the Chiefly denials.

Ms Gallagher says while on leave she stayed with her sister in France, who was also on holiday there.

Ms Gallagher says the staffer, a friend of her sister, also visited.

“I have provided all of this information to the Auditor General. I have provided this information to the Solicitor General and I sought advice around how to handle this going forward and from my point of view I’ve made that information clear,” she said.

“The investigation has happened and it’s cleared me of any involvement in any direct or indirect way and I think that gets lost in all of this.”

I have to say the Greens attitude on this has shocked me.

Makes me wonder who they’ve been going on holiday with.

I don’t find it that shocking. Greenpeace undertakes environmental terrorism, the Greens ignore and even suggest some support for it. They have a relaxed view of morals and legality.

They know they’d have a disaster if the Libs gained control of the Assembly at the next election so self interest above all else, in wanting ti retain the status quo that has worked quite well for them, is reason enough to try and shift focus off this.

Yep. It doesn’t benefit the Greens to make the Labor ministers look bad, so they keep their mouths shut.

Yep – the Greens are all terrorist sympathisers who don’t care about anything but their naked lust for power.

And they’re covering up this massive conspiracy with the Labor government about all the secret deals done by the Chief Minister with one of her sister’s friends and a coterie of high-level Freemasons and the Illuminati (while on a family holiday). I’m pretty sure that the reptoids are also involved in some way.

The Liberal Party are essentially revolutionary freedom fighters against this vile tyranny. Alistair Coe is a modern day Spartacus, leading the poor slaves in the desperate fight against our evil overlords.

A free plastic bag shall be the standard under which they march to victory!

All I said was their response didn’t surprise me, just as the Libs trying to suppress talk of their blatantly electoral printing expenses didn’t surprise me.

Can I say it? Today, in any other Australian jurisdiction, this Health Minister would have resigned or been sacked for even the perception of this alleged cover-up.

If she has nothing to hide, she should launch a proper investigation to locate the other culprits.

The ALP, with the help of a compliant, head-in-the-sand Greens will simply bury this.

And the electorate will return the Labor/Greens alliance for another term based on some bizarre ideological affiliation with the Labor movement.

Whoop-de-do. I’ve been on holiday to the south of France. I have stuff all responsibilities and a very moderate income. I would think that someone like Katie who’s always under public scrutiny and makes a decent wage deserves a bit of a break in a nice warm location.

As for a high ranking public servant knowing another high ranking public servant……… Do I need to point out the bleeding obvious? This is Canberra. I was talking to a complete stranger the other day and mentioned one tiny insignificant detail about another guy and the stranger says “is that Joe Blow from BlahBlah, drives a red such and such”. Small town, of course the Chief Minister will have had dealings with other people in the past and not all of those people are on Santa’s “nice” list.

“Ms Bresnan said she was frustrated by the fact that political debate remained focussed on the data-doctoring affair instead of on quality care and outcomes for patients.”

Governments, in a democracy, should be accountable. If you’re paid taxpayer funds to deliver outcomes for patients, you can’t lie about the performance and expect to get away with it. Unless you’re in Canberra, it seems.

In the early days of this issue, there were rumours that the perp was the partner of a relative of the Chief Minister. Now she’s just a “friend” of her sister. Is this subtle homophobia?

MHW

Oh geez. Why is there always someone who has to go looking for “homophobia” that’s not there?

I only believe in gay marriage when both chicks are hot.

Not again…

What I want to know is this – is the ACT ratepayer rewarding Kate Jackson for her misdeeds by paying out lots of money as a result of her resignation?
Can we make her shoulder the cost of the audit and correction of the data she deliberately destroyed?
Or are we once again, as with Rhodium, going to let off scot-free a person who took a very highly-paying plum job and failed to perform her duties to an acceptable standard?

We might expect to see such blatant dodgy dealings and blatant cronyism at, say, the Bogan Shire Council.* But we aren’t dealing here with a strip of bitumen outside the mayor’s place; this issue affects the well being of a lot of people and the management of a serious amount of money.
If you wonder why Canberra has relatively high government charges and debt, yet many of the services provided by the government are poor or mismanaged, look no further than the calibre of the people who run this town.
Canberra is just big enough to have a ‘political class’, but not big enough to attract much talent to it. Even in the unlikely event that Katie Gallagher eventually falls over this, the golden mantle would simply pass to others even less worthy (Barr? Corbell? Spare us!)

*Example only. I have no special knowledge of Bogan Shire Council, which I believe is a well-run shire in a beautiful part of Australia. I do believe they should consider a name change though.

If anyone held me responsible for the actions of my sister’s mates, I’d be well and truly f**ked.

Go Katy!

If your sister worked for her mate, and her mate worked for you, then her actions in your workplace would be something that you might well have to answer some hard questions on.

“We are just good friends”
About as subtle as a brick in flight.

Let’s have some equality here. Why should the not be hammered be cause of their sexuality?

I’m a lot more interested in whether our fearless leader can improve public transport, fix the health system and provide quality education for our kids than whether her sister bats for the other team.

Katie Gallagher complained that the Australian tourism ad campaign isn’t featuring the ACT.

I’m not suggesting that she holidays in the ACT – but surely it’s a better look for a Labor politician to be seen to holiday somewhere where she will be supporting post-flood, post-cyclone economies up north – like Julia Gillard?

Hmmmm, and wasn’t the South of France where Marie Antoinette attempted to flee before her execution?

It’s called the “Canberra Cringe” – the ACT Government actively promotes the cringe by avoiding as far as possible to deal with local suppliers and service providers. I mean, given a choice of going to a warehouse in Hume or a sumptuous virtual head office in Melbourne (with lunch) on a procurement assignment, what would a normal person do?
The same goes with holidays as we have seen with the CM and some of her family & friends who prefer the South of France to the equally good vineyards of the Canberra region.

To be fair, I’d head for the south of France as well….
