What’s the go with that construction site near Parliament House that is being operated by the Chinese embassy?
It looks like they are constructing a factory and there is dorm accommodation out the back.
The security is extensive, cameras and barbed wire.
It was approved I believe while Kevin Rudd was in office. China completing a grand new building right down the road from Parliament House with a mandarin speaking PM – let’s start talking secret tunnels people.

ASIO had the Aussie builders bug the hell out of it – needless to say the Chinese Embassy have brought in their own labour this time.
The front gatehouse on the new site looks blast-proof. They don’t need to dig a tunnel – one of Canberra’s major sewer tunnel runs straight under it in a direct line to the main embassy.
The building of the new embassy is a cover for them attempting to tunnel into the secret bunker under the lake.

What did we do to their last embassy?
All the workers on the site are either here on 457 visas or dipo staff. The crane was brought in from China and didn’t have to be inspected by ACT Workcover as it’s on dipo land. The huge tent like structure out the back is for the production of building components etc.. Anything delivered to the site is usually lifted over the fence by the crane.
Mind you considering what we did to their last embassy one can hardly blame them.
Rode past this today and the whole totalitarian vibe is simply amazingly out of place in Canberra (but perhaps for that very reason a useful antidote to the ‘Olympic’ whitewash). There was also an overwhelming smell of sewerage so the workers barracks might have some sanitation issues?
If they open a staff canteen onsite, I’m sure the new ACT food safety hit squad would find it in their newfound powers to inspect and plaster notices.

Huawei’s Canberra headquarters?
Given the date it is tempting to suggest they are building a submarine base.
