The ANU Choral Society is making their displeasure known over the Fitters’ Workshop decision:

In response to the government’s rejection of the recommendations of the Inquiry into the Future Use of the Fitters’ Workshop, members of Canberra’s many choral groups will protest in song outside the Legislative Assembly from 1 – 1:30pm tomorrow, Thursday 7 June 2012

“This decision makes a mockery of this Government’s commitment to transparency, openness and evidence-based policy-making” says organiser, Dr Helen Moore, Immediate Past President of the ANU Choral Society (SCUNA). “The Inquiry was the first time these principles were applied to a bad, one-man decision initially made behind closed doors and without consultation by former Chief Minister, Jon Stanhope. Listening to Arts Minister Joy Burch’s speech in tabling the Government’s response in the Assembly yesterday, I was truly astounded by her disregard and disrespect for the Inquiry report and the evidence put before it. Every point she made to justify the Government’s decision was either a gross misrepresentation of this evidence or a devious half-truth.
