The CT has this story on the CSIRO saying that it will not comply with a directive that all media releases have to be cleared by the PM’s office. The govt have now backed down on their demand.

It probably seemed like a good idea at the time so that only one message on climate change and everything else came out, but what it amounted too was censorship and I’m glad the CSIRO has stood its ground.

CSIRO says nay to the hand that feeds it.

Watch the grovelling stance change come the June/July funding requests.

Interesting.

I bet Questacon just grovelled and said yes straight away.

“The Government has since agreed most CSIRO statements, including those on climate change, are likely “to be pedestrian” and will not need vetting.” (CT)

-If that’s the case, disband CSIRO and install an organisation with the balls not to be ‘pedestrian’.
