Giggles for a cause: Camp Quality Giggle Ball on this November, and you don’t want to miss it!

A Black Tie fundraising event at Hotel Realm on 4 November hopes to raise $100,000 for Camp Quality programs that support children from the ACT and regional NSW who have to travel to Sydney for cancer treatment.

Camp Quality state manager Tereza Culina said Canberra did not have a paediatric oncology ward and on average, about 20 children a month made the journey up the Hume to the Sydney Children’s Hospital campuses at Randwick and Westmead.

She said Camp Quality funds a family liaison coordinator based in Randwick, as well as therapy to support children undergoing treatment such as radiation and provide play techniques to help educate them about various medical procedures.

“Families are anxious, they’re fearful. Our role is to help them navigate that system,” she said.

Ms Culina said being able to fund those critical roles in hospitals for families was crucial.

She said there were still about 10 tables to fill at the third annual ‘Camp Quality Giggle Ball’, where guests would be treated to Hotel Realm Executive Chef Fabien Wagnon’s delicious, personally selected three-course menu, matched with Australian wines or specialty beer.

Seven-piece ensemble Smooth Ops will provide the dance tunes while Mix 106.3 breakfast duo Kristen and Wilko will be the ‘Mistress and Master’ of Ceremonies for the night.

Among prizes on offer is an overnight stay in the Jamala Wildlife Lodge at the National Zoo and Aquarium, and Lord Howe Island holidays.

The party can kick on downstairs in ‘Ostani Bar & Restaurant’ till the wee hours, and if a Plan B is required, Doma Group has offered special accommodation rates at all five of their establishments. Contact the ACT Camp Quality office for more information.
