Dart boards in pubs in Canberra, little help?

flitness 5 March 2015 7

Hi guys,

I have some friends staying with me over the weekend, one of whom is a mad fan of playing darts and has asked me to help him out finding a place to relieve his needs to throw objects at a board.

None of my google skills have managed to help locate a place where you can use the dart boards, so I’m turning to Rioters to help me out. So I’m crossing my fingers here.

Ta Muchly,

In the early 1990s there were more than 2500 registered darts players in the ACT, including a number of different Australian champions/representatives over the years. Dart boards were a fixture in nearly every pub/club you could find, with the clubs making a killing through bar/bistro/pokies etc. Now you would be lucky to find 50 registered players in the ACT. The only place I know of south of Belconnen Labor Club that has a permanent dart board is the Burns Club in Kambah (and they may have been removed by now). Very sad indeed.

Thanks guys. I’ll send the list to him and hopefully we’ll be able to find him a dart board so he doesn’t get withdrawals. 🙂

If you live north side there are a number of pub venues that have dart boards.

I can recommend the Kaleen Bar and Bistro. There’s a separate room set aside with 2 boards in pretty good nick.

Other venues with boards you could check out are Ginninderra tavern, the Basement at Belconnen, the Fraser tavern and the Wood Duck Inn out at Hall.

I saw a couple at the old CANBERRA inn recently out the back near the pool tables. It is under new management and the place is looking a bit more upper class with the change of furniture. Hope this helps ????. (Not that the old Canberra inn could ever be considered upper class but you get the picture ????)
