These weekends keep coming up far too fast. And extra weekday (perhaps called Standay?) appears to be in order.

But the matter in question is what to do with the days and nights of relative freedom now upon us.

Wotz On – Celluloid Edition

Arc – as mentioned already, extra screenings of WIF and a screening of the AFI-nominated BASTARDY. Also, the J-Noir season kicks off tonight with Beat Takeshi’s VIOLENT COP, the Harold Pinter season continues on Saturday with Meryl Streep in THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT’S WOMAN, Saturday night is PETE SEEGER – LIVE IN AUSTRALIA, Sunday it’s the Golden Lion nominated film IN THE CITY OF SYLVIA, and, at various times over the weekend, the Little Big Shots International Film Festival For Kids continues.

ANU Film Group – Saturday night it’s a crowd-pleasing double with Nicolas Cage in KNOWING followed by TRANSPORTER 3. Doors open at 7.15pm, screening starts at 8pm sharp, membership available at the door from $15. for more details.

Reel McCoy Film Society – this Wednesday it’s Ginger Rogers and David Niven in the classic screwball comedy BACHELOR MOTHER. This is preceded by the first episode of ZORRO’S FIGHTING LEGION, so it promises to be a night of fun. 6pm start, National Library of Australia, membership available at the door.
