If you’re going to the Trackside Festival tomorrow, make an effort to get there by 11am.

Canberra’s very own Hoodlum Shouts have been given the homour of kicking off the festival. Awarded the spot as part of Triple J’s unearthed competition, the band will set your pants on fire with their unique brand of infectious rock.

Let the Hoodlum Shouts help you knock the top off your first beer of the day.

Get out there and support local music y’all!

No worries Jim, it would have been company for me on the journey,so I wasn’t being totally altruistic. (Oh, and I’m going up on Saturday, coming back on Sunday, was what I should have said!)

I’ll be taking my pocket camera, not the Canon, if I get any good snaps I’ll send you a link.

I don’t know if you’re taking the mickey or not there Jim, but I’ll take it at face value.

Every metalhead worth his/her salt should at least know of Budgie through their influence on the NWOBHM (if not through Metallica covers of Breadfan and Crash Course in Brain Surgery – back when Metallica were an actual heavy metal band).

Earth (legendary Melbourne metal band)

They can’t be too legendary if they share a name with what is already the legendary American band led by Dylan Carlson.

Also the name Black Sabbath used before their more famous incarnation

OMFG. Budgie. That’s so awesome it’s beyond words.

I don’t know if you’re taking the mickey or not there Jim, but I’ll take it at face value. I’m surprised anyone outside of the UK has heard of them to be frank. Burke Shelley is the only original member left, Budgie has been Burke plus others since it’s inception though. A “lame to fame” of mine is that my mate Pete Boot was their drummer for a couple of albums, (notabley “In for the Kill”, which I rate their best.)
