River of Art The Moffat Collective

The Moffat Collective will perform in historic churches on the last weekend of Eurobodalla’s River of Art Festival in September.

A musical journey through 18th century Europe will be the perfect way to farewell River of Art Festival for 2022.

Set within grand country churches at Moruya and Narooma, these two performances by The Muffat Collective feature the most beautiful music from Italian cathedrals, French salons and German coffee houses.

The performers explore the history of the baroque violin, harpsichord and fascinating viola da gamba. Flirting with the limits of our human desire, these rarely performed works frenetically exchange love for hate or despair for joy. Through trios and dramatic solo works this program is a celebration of the human emotional states called affects in the 17th and 18th century.

With discussion and explanations about the composers and works, this is a special opportunity to get up close and personal with performers, their instruments and a style of music making that is sure to dazzle your senses and pull at your heart strings!
