Dapper silent movie actor Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) falls for chorus line co-star Kathy Seldon (Debbie Reynolds) against the backdrop of an industry rocked by the emergence of ‘talking pictures’.

Joy abounds in this Hollywood-on-Hollywood classic, which first danced into audiences’ hearts over 70 years ago and remains a cherished favourite. Best known for its iconic umbrella sequence, Singin’ in the Rain also immortalised such beloved music numbers as ‘Good Mornin’, ‘Fit as a Fiddle’, ‘Make ‘Em Laugh’, and many more.

‘There is no movie musical more fun than Singin’ in the Rain, and few that remain as fresh’ – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Singin’ In the Rain is held in the NFSA collection.
