The people across the border are extending their Daylight Savings for the Commonwealth Games. Daylight Savings usually finishes at 2am on the last Sunday in March, this will be extended by one week to 2am Sunday 2 April 2006.
Apart from creating a heap of confusion (even more so if the Comrade doesn’t do the same for our little inland island), I really don’t see the benefit. Most Australians seem to have enough trouble keeping track of DST without NSW extending it by a week…it must be pure hell for international tourists, “This week Adelaide are 30 minutes behind us behind us, next week they will be one hour and 30 minutes behind us, and the week after that it’ll be back to the normal 30 minutes, confused yet?”
