ACT Policing is reminding the Canberra community to stay vigilant on the roads following a report of a suspicious vehicle over the weekend.
Around 11.30pm on Saturday night (June 18), a 51-year-old Queanbeyan woman was driving home along Long Gully Road when she was followed by a car with blue and red flashing lights on its inside dashboard. The woman reported that the suspicious vehicle drove closely behind her with its high beams on, indicating for her to pull her vehicle over.
She continued driving, and was overtaken by the suspicious vehicle, whose occupants threw objects at the woman’s car before speeding away along the Monaro Highway.
The woman described the occupants of the vehicle as three male youths, and the suspicious vehicle was dark in colour.
Anyone who is approached by a vehicle which they believe may be impersonating a police vehicle is urged to contact ACT Policing Operations immediately on 131 444.
ACT Policing would also like to remind the community that they may request to see police identification or badge and warrant card to confirm the identity of any plain clothes police officer.
