Hairdresser that will come to your home

Hi All,

My Mum is very unwell and is unable to leave her home. She is about to undergo chemotherapy and is worried about how her hair is going to look as it starts to fall out.

She would like to get her hair cut before the chemo starts but is too unwell to go to the hairdressers.

Can anyone suggest a good professional hairdresser who will come to your home to cut hair.

My mum lives on the northside (Gungahlin).
thanks.

I believe the PM has a hairdresser that comes in the home. Contact the Lodge.

Jeanice from Guerilla Hair is a dedicated mobile hairdresser with 16yrs experience – ph 0414 770 752.

I currently look like an ape, if I bring a beret, can she make look like Che Guevara?

Rather a strange choice of business name…

“The concept of guerrilla marketing was invented as an unconventional system of promotions that relies on time, energy and imagination rather than a big marketing budget. Typically, guerrilla marketing campaigns are unexpected and unconventional, potentially interactive, and consumers are targeted in unexpected places.
(Wikipedia)

The last bit makes me wonder if she didn’t intend to call her business, “Guerrilha Hair”.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I really appreciate the help.

And especially for the grammatical advice! But I am surprised you didn’t point out that I was missing a ? mark at the end of my question. I left it out especially for those that care about such things to have something to talk about 🙂 Never mind you found something else. See I knew the trolls would not be able to resist posts even about my sick mother.

Well said! 🙂

+1 for the hammering of the unnecessary grammar police.

Good luck, wrigbe.

should be ‘Hairdresser who will come to your home’, unless you’re hoping a machine or some other non-human hair cutter will arrive to do the job.

Get a life trollsniffer.

Not a home hairdresser but they may provide names of some.
I saw an add on tv last night for Look Good…Feel Better it is a free community service program dedicated to helping Australians cope with the appearance related side-effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy such as hair loss and changes to the skin.
Here is their website http://lgfb.org.au/lgfb_wp/

Was that really necessary, troll-sniffer?

I know someone who might be able to help. I’ll let you know if I find out anything useful.

Seemed necessary to me. The spelling and grammar police are out in force for most of the rest of us.

Troll-Sniffer, pull your ugly head in. This person is asking for assistance with finding a hairdresser not petty comments about grammar. Wrigbe you could perhaps contact the people in one of these ads:

Best of luck!

Something else to look into down the line are the Look Good, feel better workshops http://lgfb.org.au . They do workshops for women with cancer to help them manage side effects like hair loss etc with make up/wigs and so on. Looks like they’ve got a couple of workshops at Calvary hospital in October and December.

Best wishes to your mum and yourself.

The Canberra Hospital has a hairdresser just inside the main entrance. If you have no joy getting a home visit, then perhaps this option might be a little more sympathetic than a visit to a salon outside the hospital system.
Best wishes to your mother.

I think this person may be what you are looking for. I have never used her personally though.

There is also a wig program for people who lose hair due to cancer treatment:
http://www.actcancer.org/patients-family-friends/wig-service.aspx
They may also know of other mobile hairdressers.

Very best wishes to you and your mother.
