Two men will face court this morning (Thursday, April 7) on robbery charges following an armed hold-up at a Condor takeaway outlet last night.

About 11:40pm two men, aged 19 and 18, entered Domino’s Pizza at the Lanyon Marketplace, where one of the men produced a knife and instructed a staff member to hand over two pizzas.

The men took the pizzas and fled the area, however were seen a short time later walking past the store by police officers investigating the robbery.

Officers observed the men matched descriptions provided by Domino’s staff. The men were arrested and searched, at which time it is alleged officers uncovered a knife, crow bar and miniature hockey stick.

Both men will appear in court this morning charged with aggravated robbery.

You should see the size of the drumsticks on a condor takeaway.

It’s easy to treat this as a joke because of the stupidity of these arsehats, because no harm was actually done, and because they were apprehended quickly. But it’s not terribly funny.

I’m thinking of the staff at the pizza joint, who are almost certainly young kids, and who will have gone home after facing a knife that could conceivably have killed one or more of them.

At the time they wouldn’t have know that they were being robbed by a comedy duo, and the the fear would’ve been very real. How do you sleep and then go to school the next day after something like that? My teenage daughter is just about to start her first job running a cash register in a shop and I hope that she never has to face this crap.

I have no time for armed robbers, whether the weapon is a syringe, a knife, a gun or whatever. A weapon can be used, and may cause injury, disablement or death.

I hope the legal system doesn’t see the humour in any of this, and these tools cop it. Unlikely I know, but I live in hope.

Yeah but isn’t it a Canberra thing? Came here 17 years ago and in that time I’ve never heard this suburb pronounced phonetically. On TV, radio, in the pubs and across the grapevine I’ve always heard it pronounced like a big South American bird.

So, why not spell it that way too?

Because Charles CondEr didn’t spell his name that way.

They can’t be THAT stupid…

I’m thinking that they were trying to earn themselves a ticket to free meal and accommodation (aka gaol). Seems like they scored well, just before the harsh Canberra winter.

That is quite hilarious! Not that they did it, but that they think it is ok for them to walk past the store afterwards. They were probably too full on pizza to run away.

When Dickheads Attack.

Who the hell thinks that this is a good idea, and that they’ll actually get away with it? Chuck ’em in gaol.

It seems the CT’s “Staff reporters” share ACT Policing’s hatred of sir charles conder.

The standard of spelling, grammar and punctuation at the CT is stunningly low. Their standard of ignorance however is very high.

So true.

Same applies to ABC radio announcers unfortunately.
