Police have charged a pair of teenagers after an investigation into two alleged robberies in south Canberra that involved the use of a knife and the theft of cash, vapes and cigarettes.

The two teens, a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, were scheduled to appear in the ACT Children’s Court on Monday (18 November).

ACT Policing alleged the pair went into a shop in Phillip on 28 October 2024, where the boy pulled out a knife and made demands to the shop assistant before he stole a number of vapes and fled on foot.

Police then alleged that around 5:30 pm on Saturday (16 November), the boy went into a shop in Mawson, pointed a knife towards the shop assistant and threatened to kill them.

He allegedly fled on foot with cash and cigarettes.

“Police arrived shortly after and observed the 16-year-old girl standing in the vicinity of the store,” a police spokesperson said.

“Police recognised her as one of the alleged offenders from the October incident and arrested her.”

The pair legally cannot be named due to their ages.
