Images of Canberra – Balloons from Commonwealth Avenue Bridge

By johnboy - 15 May 2005 6

Samuel Gordon-Stewart has sent in a “Balloon and Lake” picture for our “Images of Canberra” series.

Balloons over the Lake

The rest of Samuel’s Balloon Fiesta photos, (including wonderdog Nattie) are up here.

Got an image of Canberra you want to share with the world? (trust me, balloons and/or gum-trees are not compulsory)

Email it to johnboy@the-riotact.com

The baloons are a depitction of the stereotyped view of Canberra — full of hot air !

Balloons probably do make it easy…but that picture is the one I think is the best of my bunch…and balloons tend to appear in most “Visit Canberra” ads.

Maybe I should get the wonderdog to stand on top of Telstra Tower!

These balloon ones make it too easy 😉

As someone who doesn’t have a camera, I have to say that heading home around 4:30 along William Hovell drive when back burning was taking place produced some dazzling sunset shots over the ranges. If you have the gear try to get out there some day and take some shots.

It’s a marvellous picture.

Queen “Dog-Dog” Nattie The First was quite contented with a tummy rub after I told her that Johnboy had called her a “wonderdog”. She certainly wasn’t impressed with having to get up at 5am to see the balloons, and she went straight back to bed the moment we got home.
