On Saturday 08-APR-06 we did the Civic Public Art Walking Tour and lived to tell the tale.

And so, I present to you item # 11, Ethos by Tom Bass. It’s in the Civic Squarre.

Ethos - by Tom Bass.

The guide had this to say:

Ethos stands in a dish bearing a relief map
of the city and holds aloft a bursting sun
representing culture and enlightenment.
The winged female fi gure celebrates the
civic pride of Canberra and the fabric of
her robe is richly embossed with emblems
and figures representing the community.

I can see bananas… they represent our community?
