Is Jon Stanhope the new Kate Carnell?

Watching WIN news tonight Jon Stanhope appeared on nearly every story. It was like reliving the glory days of Kate Carnell – except he lacked the red jacket, and wasn’t actually getting active (wearing red noses, riding horses, cutting ribbons etc).

In four separate news items Jon commented on Gay Partnership Legislation, ACT Govt fees on House Purchases in Canberra, Numbers of Apprentices in Canberra and some new Training Centre in Canberra – actually he did unveil a plaque for that one. It seems WIN news can fill their whole show by going to talk to Jon about the five or so issues of the day, then getting out a bit of file footage of house construction etc.

I think Jon needs to hand over a few portfolios to others to speak about, or WIN should rename their news hour – ‘chatting with the Chief Minister’.

I can’t see Jon imitating Kate Carnell’s greatest moment – wanking an imaginary penis on stage at the Convention Centre, yes, wearing the cropped red jacket…

I think you’re right, Les. And they don’t have to try harder, because they’re pretty much the only horse in the race, if I can put it that way. The Southern Cross Ten and Prime “news” bulletins are pretty much just radio with pictures.

I think you’ll find that the amount of reliance on the CM to fill WIN News’ half hour yawn-fest is directly related to their miniscule budget. The obviousness of which is also evident in their poor production quality and lack of digital broadcast equipment.
It also doesn’t help that newsworthy events are far and few between in Canberra – not enough to fill half an hour every night anyway.

I can’t wait until he gets pissed at a winery and crashes his car, then does the Harold before the cops can get him!

i always like it when hes angry.

give up a portfolio? are you mad, he’ll take on more
have you seen the Chief Ministers website
have a look at media releases by anyone there and guess who’s smiling photo is looking down on you in his own eerie way
