The Liberals’ Alistair Coe is taking an unusual approach (for a tory) of blaming society for the lawless behaviour of motorists parking illegally.
“With an unreliable and hugely expensive public transport system, many Canberrans are forced to drive their cars, and are then subject to a severe lack of parking which often forces them to park illegally.
“Canberrans are also faced with huge cost of living pressures under this government which means many take the risk when faced with paying more than $10 in parking.
Alistair would also like quarterly rego to work out as cheap as paying it all up front (with all the extra administration that would entail as quarterly renewal becomes the norm), and somehow works a whinge about the pleasure dome into the poorly thought out exercise.
