Kitchen renovations recommendations?

As I’ve seen a few posts on here seeking advice on Canberra products/services, I thought I’d try my luck and see if anyone on The RiotACT could recommend a good person/company to do our kitchen renovations (planning/drafting –> installation). We’ve finally decided to do away with the standard 1970s stylings!

Happy to pay a premium for a good experience 🙂

Hi LG,

We recently got a kitchen makeover for one of our property in canberra and have loved it. The mob which we did was really nice, we were actually interstate during few days but on the return did not have any nasty surprises but was quite pleased with their work.

I have got them bookmarked as we will surely use them for next kitchen makeover and their website address is http://www.vibrantkitchens.com.au

Cheers.

Stuart and Paul at Image Kitchens + Bathrooms are top guys with a great team behind them. Have used them many times and have referred them to many friends and colleagues who have then used them and recommended them on to theirs. Very professional and high quality of work. They are a bit hard to find as they don’t have a large ad in yellow pages but their number is 62425445

EZY-AS Kitchens in Fyshwick are great. Friendly staff and good quality…

Really? the quality of product was good, i’d leave it at that.

as per another post on the same topic, here is my opinion

Crown Kitchens are the best I have come across.

Is locally owned and operated, very reasonably priced as well.
They have done my kitchen, vanity and entertainment unit and after recommending them to friends and colleagues have had around 8 others go with them for kitchens and other joinery needs after they received quotes from other companies as well.

They provide free quotes and also design ideas to improve your kitchens and maximise space at no charge.

They have never advertised as they are flat out from just word of mouth and recommendations from people who have used their services.

This company is also on-site joiners who make and install their cabinets themselves.

They have a decent showroom as well which can give you different ideas if you are stuggling to come up with some

Contact Paco on 6284 2777 or 0431 061 742

Tried to find some of the above companies but I don’t think they exist given the time period. Does anyone have recent recommendations for companies to do a relatively painless, professional kitchen reno that delivers good value for money?

Cheers

Mint Kitchens in Mitchell
They are very well priced, and get the job done very quickly – i reccomend them to everyone

They do bulk orders i.e. 100 apartments at a time. Good luck getting a price out of them.

Eminent Kitchens in Fyshwick. Interesting, different, great quality and well priced.

I would be interested to hear more about Avant Garde kitchens if possible.

Hi Gerry did you use Laminex bench top or stone? Basically what I want to know is water resistant substrate required for bench top only?

Actually – avoid Clockwork Kitchens. We’ve just (today) found out our (Clockwork Kitchen’s)kitchen is not up to code and water resistant substrate was not used in the benchtop. Not very helpful post-sale either.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! You’ve given me a good base to start from!

We used P&K Joinery at Mitchell – very happy with the result.

“RandomGit – yes we’ll probably be looking at granite benches”

I think the granite place on Geelong St in Fyshwick is still there. They’d be worth having a chat to as well.

Kitchen Connection – the sales pitch was slick and everything seemed good – until it came time for installation….three weeks later the job is finally completed – after a stack of phone calls chasing them up. Missing bits, doors fitted on the wrong side, a microwave you needed a step ladder to reach…..

The relationship started well but quickly went down hill.

Claude from Clockwork Kitchens at Mitchell will start installing the kitchen in our new 5.5 star house tomorrow.

He’s been great to work with – pooling ideas with us to solve problems creatively. Lightboxes, LED downlights, pop-out drawers, handle-free, safe, universal access, and easy to maintain.

He’s a bit slack on the paperwork, but everything has come together exactly when needed, and competitively priced too.

Thanks for the advice so far everyone.

Avant-Garde Kitchens Pty Ltd

Vern – Canberra and Queanbeyan Kitchens. He has done a few for me now, competitve cost, reliable, looks good and gets the job relatively quickly, with constant referral throughout. Usually take two days, o9ne to knock the old out, and a day to rebuild the new one. Freaking good for an old bloke.

If Nigel the dodgasaurus cabinet maker doesn’t work for Simplicity Kitchens anymore, I’ll give them a thumbs up.

If you want granite benches let me know and I’ll look up the mob that did ours.

We’ve had two kitchens (one replacement + one in the new build) done by Kitchen Link…both were excellent jobs, very happy.

Is Melinda Boag still around (I think that was her name)???

Check out the latest display village near you and there’ll probably be a few cards lying around for kitchen places, with the added bonus of seeing a sample of their work at the same time.
