This has made its way to me:
Ever wanted to try wheelchair basketball? This is your chance!
Wheelout in the Capital, hosted by Sport Matters and Enable Development, is one of the Centenary of Canberra’s many wheel-themed events during SPIN: Canberra’s Weekends on Wheels.
Individual ($100) and team ($1000) registrations close today, with funds raised supporting a development program in Timor-Leste.
No prior experience is necessary, wheelchairs are provided and registration payments are tax-deductible. As well, each player will receive a day jam-packed with competition, lunch and prizes.
The funds raised will help deliver a leadership program to 300 teenagers and young adults in Timor Leste, using sport as a tool for social change.
The tournament also includes paralympians Liesl Tesch and Curtis Palmer as guest players, showing the rest of us how it’s done.
