City News has this piece on the expected price rise fo outdoor cafes as the gubbmint introduces further charges on outdoor dining areas. They go around and interview lots of Civic cafe operators but what I found surprising was that they didn’t talk to Gus’ss.
As we should all know it was Gus that brought the outdoor cafe to Canberra back in the 60’s(?). He kept setting up his tables out on the footpath and the gubbmint kept fining him and telling them to get off the street but he kept doing it and people loved it. And thats why Canberra has outdoor cafes.
