Renowned for being the best nail artist in the Nation’s Capital, Jessica Peris has upgraded from her home studio to a stunning new full-service salon in Franklin that oozes luxury, sophistication and style. The Beautique by Jessica Peris brings a beauty experience unlike any other.
Featuring a giant floral wall, rose quartz-style sink, floor to ceiling windows, a mezzanine waiting room, neon signage and pedicure armchairs that belong on the pages of a home-style magazine, Jessica has spared no detail in the making of her professional space.
Starting out in a tiny studio in her parent’s garage in 2011, Jessica has spent the last seven years building her reputation as Canberra’s most specialised nail artist. Now, after all that hard work, she finally has the space to match her offering.
“My vision for our new salon is to create an experience from start to finish. It’s about making people happy from the moment they walk through the door until their next visit – that’s the real essence of beauty,” shared Jessica. “People don’t just feel beautiful when they look good. People radiate beauty when they’re happy. I think we’ve achieved that, not only in the space that we’ve created but also in the experience we’ll provide each one of our clients.”
As someone who grew up with a creative background with a love for beauty and makeup, Jessica revealed, “doing nails wasn’t something I ever saw myself doing. I was studying in my final semester of my Bachelor in Advertising and Marketing when a friend of mine asked me to assist her with a makeup job. She was studying makeup at the time and had a portfolio gig. She had to do eight faces for a catwalk, and we were so pressed for time, I ended up doing two full faces (having no idea what I was doing). I ended up falling in love with it and decided to take a new direction into the world of makeup and beauty.”
“After a meeting with the principal of Australasian Beauty Therapy Academy in Phillip, she suggested that as well as enrolling into the Cert II in Makeup, that I try out their nail course. My mum was there at the time, and I remember clearly scrunching my face up and saying “hmm, nah, nails aren’t really my thing”. My mum then cut in enthusiastically in her cute Thai accent saying “if you do the nail course, I pay for you – and you can do my nails for free!” The rest is history. I gave it a go and ended up falling in love with nail art and the endless possibilities of what you could create. I found a way to combine my passion for art and beauty, and also saw a gap in the market at the time for nail artists in Canberra offering the style of work that I do.”
The space will also double up as a venue for professional beauty and lifestyle workshops. Celebrated Melbourne-based professional makeup artist, Merton Muaremi, will host the first workshop on April 26, 2018.
