By astrojax - 11 May 2008 27

“Adelaide boring, Canberra Worse”. So, another pollie labels canberra boring, this time qualifying and making a comparison to that death-warmed-up metropolis of churches, sunny adelaide. not really much of a story here, but thought i’d share. noice, eh? happy day to any mums reading.

What’s Your opinion?

no prob, it’s easy to cut & paste … I don’t know how to add url on this site either …

I wish they’d get it right!

It’s not the city that’s boring … it’s (many of) the inhabitants …

Its all contained in the FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions. I suppose its presumably not far removed from that big orange button at the top of the screen labelled ‘posting instructions’.

Oh, yes, of course … there it is in bubble number three in 3pt font, how did I ever miss that … and I was wearing my monicle and all !

Heaven help me if I ever want to add a url to an EXISTING post … or is that “presumably” in some big fat purple button somewhere?

Don’t worry about it M, I’m sure J and the powers that be are aware of this missing piece of the puzzle …

Given the climate, at least we’ve got a better claim to the term “Snowtown”.

What’s really refreshing and interesting is the observation that Canberra is boring. I never tire of hearing people talk and joke about it! What’s that you say? Lacking in culture!? Please, explain why you say th…..zzzzzzzzzzzz….

To be fair, those ad campaigns open both cities up for criticism such as this. But Canberra is to Australia what Queanbeyan is to Canberra … the locals just like having their own little secret and don’t mind that most others criticise their home town.

@CanberraResident – I’m not sure if I understand the tenor of your post. You are attacking me, because I helped out another rioter ?

Say ‘welcome’ to the tard brush.

Aaaaaannnddd before you go on with another vitriolic spurt, I didn’t see you jumping up and offering any help before I piped up, so you can shove it as far as I am concerned as an immediate starting point.

Listening to this item on ABC666 this morning, Ross Solly made the comment that as NSW Roads Minister, Eric Roozendaal has a lot to be proud of 🙂

And the claim that there’s no gridlock is not really correct, as some areas do indeed lock up at rush hour.

Phah! I’ve started to realise that people who say “one city is better than the other” usually only mean one or two things; (a) The city I like has more places to go and get p!ssed, and (b) The city I like has more places to go see live bands.

Yep, those are indeed the credentials required in the 21st century to determine how boring a city is 😛

The big cities are great if you like city life, and all that comes with it – bands, bars, artsy stuff, traffic, crowds…

Canberra however is awesome, the feeling of space and living in a (somewhat) planned city can’t be beat. Probably my main like for Canberra is the outdoors and sporting scene, which just doesn’t exist in the big smoke. There’s a reason Canberrans are fitter, stronger, smarter and live longer than other Aussies.

OK, now everyone shut up and stop saying how good Canberra is, otherwise we’ll be flooded with fat buggers from Syd & Melb looking for a tree-change.
