UPDATED: Accused murderer faces court over alleged fatal stabbing near Goulburn

UPDATE, 4:30 pm: The case against the man charged over the alleged murder of a 38-year-old at Bungonia has appeared in court for the first time.

Robert Mathew Marshall, a 40-year-old from the Mulwaree region, made no application and it was formally refused by the Goulburn Local Court on Monday (25 March).

The matter was adjourned to 22 May and Mr Marshall can attend via audio-visual link.

6:45 am: A 40-year-old man is set to front Goulburn Local Court today (25 March) after being charged over an alleged fatal stabbing.

Emergency services attended an Oallen Ford Road property at Bungonia, east of Goulburn just after 9:45 pm on Saturday (23 March), after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man.

When police officers arrived, they found a man who had been stabbed.

They performed CPR until paramedics arrived, however the 38-year-old died at the scene.

He’s yet to be formally identified.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

It will be alleged in court that the two men – who were known to each other – were involved in an altercation at the property before the younger man was stabbed.

The older man has been charged with murder (DV) and was refused bail ahead of his court appearance.
