A man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Batemans Bay.

Emergency services were called to Perry Street after reports a Nissan Navara and a Mitsubishi ASX SUV collided head-on at about 2:45 pm (Tuesday, 16 August).

NSW Ambulance inspector Steve Owen said when paramedics arrived they found the Nissan driver was seriously injured and trapped in his car.

“He was extricated with the assistance of Fire and Rescue NSW and paramedics treated him for serious head injuries,” he said.

“A second man was also treated at the scene for neck and chest injuries, with paramedics applying spinal precautions.”

The 66-year-old man was then taken to Moruya Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The 84-year-old male Mitsubishi driver was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with a report to be prepared for the coroner.
