Man to face court over Belconnen stabbing

A 43-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after he allegedly stabbed a woman with a 15 cm knife in a Belconnen car park yesterday (21 June).

Police allege the man and the woman, believed to be neighbours, were arguing in the communal car park of a townhouse complex on Chandler Street at around 9:35 am.

During the argument, police will allege the man produced a 15 cm knife and stabbed the woman in the hand, before being chased away by a witness.

The woman was taken to hospital after being treated on the scene by paramedics.

The man was arrested yesterday over the incident and has been charged with intentionally wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.
