Mother’s Day in Glebe Park

johnboy 6 May 2010 7

The Chiefly Stanhope is encouraging us to join his Mother’s Day jamboree in Glebe Park.

The Mother’s Day Party will be held from 11am to 3pm and feature one of Australia’s top tribute shows, The Robbie Williams Experience, who will play the major hits from the ultimate show man, Robbie Williams.

Which reminds me of the intense disappointment I felt going out to the speedway to see Mr T as a wee tacker only to discover it was a very unconvincing man in a rubber mask.

There does, however, appear to be a lot of other stuff going on:

“From a Robbie Williams Tribute show and massages for mum, to a reptile show and mini golf for children, there are plenty of reasons to get out and celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday at Glebe Park.”

A great selection of food will be available for purchase on the day, including barbeque, vegetarian curries, Turkish gozleme, Greek kondosouvli, South American and Spanish foods, corn on the cob, Dutch pancakes, cakes, fairy floss, snow cones, gelatos, ice cream and fresh coffee.

Ask some Gen X chicks about Robbie Williams and you might get a better idea of why the act was booked. He’s very popular with the ladies. Not all ladies like him, but more ladies seem to like Robbie Williams than KISS.

The food sounds good. I hope the Hare Krishnas are the doing the vegie curries, I’d go just for that! Massages, kids activities, and Latin dancing sound like fun too.

Robbie Williams tribute … why?

The KISS tribute was already booked.

I’ve seen some pretty decent Kiss tribute bands. I’m not a big fan or anything, but at least they’ve had an enduring career and appear to know how to play instruments.

A “Fat dancer from Take That” tribute?

Sounds about as low as you can get…

Have they stolen a chimp from the zoo, shaved it, and given it a microphone?
