New Canberra Hospital Branding. Choose a logo! [With Poll]

Leinna 28 November 2011 45

ACT Health and the Canberra Hospital are designing a new brand:

Branding of the TCH&HS group is an important step in developing our image, reputation and identity. These are vastly important parts of any organisation in assisting with research, public awareness, recruitment & retention and fundraising and it is our hope that it will provide a strong brand that the community can identify with and support.

They are encouraging community feedback on three possible options which can be found here.

If you’re interested, the current logo is:

You can direct feedback to ACT Health at HealthACT@act.gov.au

Spend a little bit more time on surgery rather than designing a logo to make you look good. I do recall the ACT government missing that federal funding due to not meeting targets.

Will a new logo improve performance ……. I doubt it

is it just me that finds Option 2 something of an anaemic Microsoft Office logo?

I always thought a large red cross was more of a distinctive logo for a hospital. These alternatives will leave newcomers wondering where to look for medical assistance.

So how do we give this feedback on to the hospital?

Well, according to the OP:
‘You can direct feedback to ACT Health at HealthACT@act.gov.au
…unless i’ve missed something!

So how do we give this feedback on to the hospital?

If it’s going to be a poll, should we have ‘keep the current logo’ as an option?

+1
To me the original logo not only looks the best but also looks the most appropriate and corporate.

And it needs to be changed because…?

I suspect The newest Press release regarding Hospital waiting times in A and E not to mention elective surgery rates in A.C.T. may have something to do with it.

They look like Guinea pig runs to me.

The current one.

and how much Bleeding money are they wasting on rebadging everything when the waiting lists to either see a specialist or obtain much needed surgery blow out to kingdom come! Not happy Jan!

I preferred the brutal honesty of the old logo.

I am not thrilled with any of the presented options so I cant bring myself to vote. If I was forced at gunpoint I’d vote for 2 but it could be improved. 3 reminds me of IBM way too much (which is a very outdated style now) and hurts my eyes and 1 looks is unsuitable for the many reasons listed above.

It is hard to judge without reading the brief, but I am not overly impressed with any of these. The main problem I have is the typography. Option 1, the leading is far too generous. Option 2, would be suited for a childrens hospital, way too rounded. The third option, in my view does not work… really clumsy and outdated.

Surely there is more creative talent out there in Canberra? These logos aren’t hitting the mark in my opinion.

I concur. These logos look like they were crowdsourced from a daycare centre.

Being colour blind the main problem with option 2 is that the colour on the top and on the right look exactly the same to me. At least the current logo is in ACT Govt corporate colours which was one of the contributing reasons why the “running man” logo went. More pointless waste of money which could have gone towards caring for patients. Duffbowl got it pretty right, a relatively new Chief Executive of a recently renamed “Directorate” with a relatively new corporate structure and relatively new Deputy Chief Executive of Woden Valley Hospital as part of Royal Canberra Hospital and Associated Regional Services, oops Royal Canberra Hospital South, oops The Canberra Hospital, oops Canberra Hospital and Health Services dammit.

Logo 1 with the type from logo 4.

The second one. The third one makes me want to go into an epileptic fit.

No more running man logo? My friend designed that one.

“or option 5

THE BIG UNWASHED HAND” . . . ‘down down, standards are down . . . ‘

Mr Evil Mr Evil 5:57 pm 28 Nov 11

I like the first one – a C+ grade is about all most people would give Canberra Hospital under the current administration – and that’s being generous!
