Roads ACT in conjunction with ACT Policing, the ESA and the South Tuggeranong Fire & Rescue project contractor will implement the following measures to help alleviate the traffic congestion being created by road works during morning and afternoon peak periods.

From today Woodcock Drive will became two lanes (one way only) for northbound traffic from Jim Pike Avenue and Claire Dennis Avenue between 7:00am to 11:00am.

Traffic controllers will be placed at Clair Dennis Avenue and on Woodcock Avenue just west past Covenant College southbound to occasionally allow the light southbound traffic to pass through off Woodcock Avenue onto Claire Dennis Avenue, Preddey Way and Lewis Luxton Avenue.

Extra traffic controllers will be placed near Tom Roberts Avenue and Box Hill Drive intersections past the Lanyon Marketplace to communicate traffic conditions to traffic controllers at Lanyon Marketplace in an attempt to also improve the flow in that area.

From yesterday afternoon, temporary traffic lights will be placed on Drakeford Drive near the Drakeford Drive roundabout for the evening peak periods only, and operated manually by on-site traffic marshalls based on the traffic conditions.

ACT Government officials will meet again today at lunchtime to review the effectiveness of these new measures.
