Newest minister suffers bout of media release diarrhoea

Kramer 24 November 2009 11

All I can think is that the ACT Labour government’s newest minister, Joy Burch has taken a media laxative, as she has expelled no fewer than 13 media releases today. The member for Brindabella who has recently taken charge of the portfolios Disability, Housing and Community Services; Multicultural Affairs; Children and Young People; Ageing; and Women, had not issued a media release until today. What a start – I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

If you are suffering insomnia again this evening, then I suggest you peruse the Joy Burch chronicles.

New MLA puts out media releases.

I would have thought that this was a good thing.

I have a confidentiality agreement in my current job so I can’t say who or why or give more detail, but I was in Joy’s new office and heard a senior staff member refer to someone as ‘A nutter whinging about bloody Abbo’s’

Nice considering shes Multicultural Affairs minister!

I was also in Corbells office and had quiet giggle to myself when I saw they had a copy of the 2009 ACT budget proping open one of the windows.

i dont know why you complain. as long as the former ct journos, now employed as alp speechwriters and spindoctors, fax the current ct journos the latest media release, all is good. they only need three fax numbers – ct, abc and win.

Which is a good thing… I understand we have had the same Ministers for quite some time now, so a change should be refreshing. Hopefully she can do a good job and if that means we have to recieve 3,132,564 media releases each year, then so be it.

with that amount of portfolios (however small some are) he is gonna have a mountain of people to address, but still, no wonder the unemployment with all that pie for one person.

It probably has more to do with the rather hopeless system they have for media releases in CMD. Same thing happened with Hargreaves a few weeks back.

As BD says, their email system is worse – to the point of pointlessness. I eagerly await another bout of 50 emailed releases that have been lazily lapping the cyberspace pond for several months…

I too noticed her large collection of media releases all issued today. Luckily not all of them came through the recently revived email distribution system.

I do think she had released some previously through the CM’s soapbox, however they must have been practice before she became a minister and they seemed to be wiped when they added her to the ministers list.
