Parking in Barton?

So our office is re-locating to Barton near Brisbane Ave and whilst we are being re-assured that parking is not a problem, some have heard otherwise.

Can any Rioters share their experiences?

Free and easy to get in Barton??? What the???
There’s plenty of paid parking (and high intensity inspectors) between Tourism House and Edmund Barton buildings, but thats about it. Anywhere else is either 2 hour (and swap regularly with friends in other 2 hours) or get to work before 8.15.
Or of course ride a motorcycle, then yes, free and plenty of it.

I would love to know where all this FREE parking is. I work down near the police college, and all parking around the streets are only 2 hours free. So I suppose if you enjoy having a break every 2 hours then that is okay, but its finding another 2 hour spot after you have moved your car.

I only work part-time and arrive into work at 9:30am after school drop offs. Hard to find a park anywhere at ths time.

I only work 4 hours a day, so it seems unfair that I have to pay $8 for a full day.

Yep, Parking is not a problem. As long as you are happy to pay for it and walk a bit. You have to ask why some people are having to park on the Kingston side of Telopea Park which can be a bit of a hike if you’re not used to it.

There are free spots in that area, but it depends on what time you start. Arriving after 815 could be a problem.

You could park behind the college, or in front of it on Brisbane Av, or in the dirt car parks off Telopea Park (althogh it wouldn’t suprise me if cars get broken into here)

Some of the building down that end of Brisbane Av do have significant spots behind them for staff. The building next Salvation Army House is one.

Thanks guys, parking currently is free and pretty easy to get one any time of day most days.
The office is at the south east end of Brisbane Ave. I don’t mind walking a bit as my current daily ride will be much more difficult next year not just because of the move.

Depends on where in Barton your office is – it is a long suburb and it depends where you are as to whether there is a problem or not – if youre not an early starter I believe you will become one if you are relying on the public spaces.

Parking in Barton is terrible – if you arrive after about 8.15am, and if you have ideas about going out in your car around lunchtime and getting a park again. The park behind the AFP is terrible. I’ve been parked in on more than one occasion and had to stay at work longer just to wait for my car to be free. Parking around the police college isn’t so bad, if you don’t mind walking a little bit. Alternatively I had friends who parked down near Brodburger and walked from there – if the weather’s anything like today, it’d be a beautiful walk!

On pay v. free parking. The parks behind AFP are pay parking (I think about $8 a day – someone correct me?) Parking down by the lake is free.

“we are being re-assured that parking is not a problem”

That depends on whether you’re currently paying for your parking, or are happy to do so.

If they mean free parking then they’re lying to you.

Park in the teachers car park of Telopea High and go for a 3 minute walk.
