Permanent scarring, swelling on the brain among injuries from alleged Summernats brawl

ACT Policing has reiterated its plea for witnesses to come forward following reports of several serious alleged assaults at the recent Summernats event.

A number of serious attacks allegedly occurred during a brawl inside EPIC on Saturday, 6 January.

An ACT Policing statement outlined some of the injuries allegedly sustained as a result.

“A number of people presented with serious injuries including swelling on the brain, severe concussion, and permanent scarring to the face,” it stated.

“While many of the incidents have been captured on social media and police have spoken to some of the witnesses present, police are encouraging anyone who may have information that is yet to speak to police to come forward to assist in the investigation.”

Social media videos from 6 January appear to depict security guards and patrons engaging in a massive fight.

Anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents or who may have footage that could assist police, has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference 7639868.
