Pointless Human Rights bill, Pointed Human Voice will

By RandomGit - 14 April 2005 2

In a follow up to this blog from johnboy the ACT governation has got off it lazy ass [Canberra Times] in the face of possible left wing backlash on human rights and right wing backlash on child abuse.

Now if they could just honestly take it on the chin for the bushfires [Canberra Times] I won’t have anything to act all indignified about anymore.

Until I drive home that is.

What’s Your opinion?

Never leave it up to politicians to draft workable legislation. The Bill of Rights 1688 that is law in the ACT contains such gems as William and Mary still being our legitimate sovereigns and Catholics are forbidden to hold public office. Don’t they ever read what they’re voting on??

it’s still a fix in years to come for a problem now.

If i’m held without trial will i have to wait years before my right to trial is addressed?

Can the Government torture me for years while they evaluate plans to redress this breach of my rights?

Can they deprive me of my property indefinitely while the bureacracy grinds on?

Anyway it’s good if they fix Quamby.

But either they need act today to ensure these “rights” are adhered to (possibly by setting them free if need be) or they should remove these “rights” from the Act.
