Quick stop trout fishing!

By Barcham - 11 June 2013 2

Trout!

Trout season ended on the 7th. No more trout fishing.

The Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate is reminding anglers that the trout fishing season will close at midnight tonight, Friday 7 June 2013, prior to the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

The Director of Environment Protection and Water Regulation, Daniel Walters, said the closed season will remain in effect until midnight Friday, 4 October 2013, the day before the Labour Day long weekend.
“During the closed season, it is prohibited to take any fish from areas designated as trout waters in the ACT,” Mr Walters said.

Just FYI…

In NSW, the closure commences on the Monday AFTER the long weekend (midnight Monday), while our bureaucratic overlords think it better to close the season BEFORE the long weekend (midnight Friday). So much for keeping our fishing laws and regulations in line with NSW. There is no way this could lead to any confusion now would it.

Just another examlpe of intellectually lazy public servants brouhht to you buy the fatcats at the Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate.

At least ACT anglers don’t have to pay $30 for an annual fishing license (as long as they don’t cross the border).
So much for the millions of dollars governments have wasted in addressing mutual recognition between the states and territories.
