The Hash House Harriers have been mentioned on this site previously. I received the below from a friend – please pass it on and attend!

Attention Hashers, Harriettes and Muggles,

It’s the Wednesday ACT (WACT) Hash, on a Friday. It’s the 1300th run, out of sequence. It’s starting at 6:30pm, which is later than the usual 6:10pm WACT start. At last, it’s the better late than never, inaugural

WACT RED DRESS RUN!

This is a fundraising event, where all proceeds will go to the Pegasus charity (www.pegasusact.com.au/), which is a not-for-profit ACT community organisation that provides equestrian activities for people with disabilities. Participants will roam Civic soliciting donations in a fun environment! This event is for you if:

• you are a Hash House Harrier,
• you are a bloke who likes to wear drag,
• you are a sheila who likes to dress in red,
• you are of a cultural background where a dress isn’t a dress,
• you like horses,
• you like raising money for charity,
• you like drinking beer,
• you like marauding around Civic,
• it has been foretold that you will meet your future life partner under strange circumstances,
• some hottie asked you to attend, OR
• I have asked you to attend.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A HASHER TO PARTICIPATE, so please distribute this invite far and wide! Participation costs only $30 and registration is due by Wednesday, 6th November 2013, which includes a donation to Pegasus and a commemorative T-shirt. And what a T-shirt! WACT’s 1300th run, 25 years of Red Dress Runs plus 100 years of Canberra means this is a shirt your grandchildren will cherish IF you don’t wear it out as a result of it being so awesome. The donation to Pegasus, also, will leave you feeling snuggly and warm even without the shirt.

Please be at the Civic location (to be determined) by 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start on Friday, 22nd November. Venue details will be distributed closer to the event. Late starters can follow the arrows (but payment will be required if you want the shirt). Payment will be made by cash on the day (unless otherwise arranged), following receipt of these registration details at GrandMattress@WACTHash.com

Name (HHH name, if applicable)
Shirt size
Phone
Email

All participants participate at their own risk and commit to paying the $30 once registered, unless they cancel their registration by 6th November 2013 – there are some strange and unique shirt sizes we don’t want to be left holding! We look forward to having a great time with you during a night you won’t forget!

PS – wear a red dress… it’s the Day of the Red Dress!

Intriguing. How many kms is the run? Is it acceptable to run slowly if I blame the fact that I’m wearing my very best red ballgown?

Hi there, we reckon this will be a different “run” because it will be for charity and a number of non-Hashers will attend. Some people might run, but it will be up to participants whether they walk or run (or skip, etc.) and it won’t be too arduous as it will be centred around Civic.

Hope you can make it!

For those interested, I located some photos from Hobart a few years ago… they had 1000 Hashers there for a national get-together: http://members.iinet.net.au/~bthomo/hosh/picturesreddressrun.html?page=RedDress#2 It would be great to get this sort of attention in Canberra for this awesome cause!
