Acclaimed international playwright and local ABC radio producer Melanie Tait has made a short film and it’s screening at The Front in Lyneham for one night only.
The Facebook event page has this to say:
We done made a short film.
If it had a tacky Hollywood tagline, the tagline would be thus:
“Some people you can’t help connecting with.”
Get it? It’s about a gal who’s internet dating in all the wrong places.
Please come along to The Front, watch the flick and have some drinks with us.
Starring Sarah Quinn, Andrew Holmes, Benjamin Crowley, Aidan Emanuel, Nicholas Linehan…and Merlin.
Directed by Felix Barbalet
Written by Melanie Tait
Script Edit by Steven Roberts
Sound by Shane Morton
Continuity by Jo Meakins
Production Assistants Priscilla Jackman, Maxine Morrison, Duglis
Melanie has this to say in addition:
We totally did all of it over a weekend in January without any money – my Mum did the catering, actors and techies volunteered their time.
April’s Caravan provided the costumes, Lonsdale Cyclery gave us bikes without a charge, Sally Hopman at the National Library of Australia opened the library early for us on the Saturday morning, The Front let us commandeer their cafe all afternoon, The Street let us hold castings, Ivana Leonard (dog trainer) brought and looked after her dog for a whole day’s shooting, Adrienne Francis let us trample through and film her gorgeous O’Connor cottage for a night – and provided pizza into the bargain!
This film is just a result of a whole heap of awesome Canberrans banding together to make something very sweet.
