Good afternoon and welcome to the RiotACT Gig Guide for the 12th to the 18th of July! We have a stack of gigs this week so let’s dive in, shall we?

Pictured above are one of Canberra’s top rockabilly bands, the King Hits, which will be playing with Bad Bags and DJ Professor this Friday from 10 pm. If you haven’t seen the King Hits yet, do yourself a favour! A couple of other standouts for me include Andromeda Is Coming and Ben Drury playing from 7 pm Saturday at Gorman Arts Centre, in what looks be an elusive and astronomic night of experimental tuneage. Speaking of astronomical, on Sunday night at Smith’s Alternative Charlie Marshall will be back in town with a new band and a new album, ‘Sublime’, which is a wonderful LP for fans of highly melodic and psychedelic pop. I will be interviewing Charlie on LocalNLive on 2XX 98.3FM – tune in from 4 pm!

Triumvirate is also playing TWICE this weekend, coming out of a semi-hiatus to play with Neon Highways, The Wumpaz and Sarky Bastard on Friday at the Front, and with Bleach It Clean on Saturday at La De Da. And Mulgara (which you can read more about here) will be hosting Lachlan X Morris’ album launch, playing alongside Grace Turner, PJ Johnson and Evan Buckley on Saturday night.

Anyway, there is a tonne to get through here so I’ll leave that to you – get stuck into it!
