Canberra Theatre Centre continues its live music presentations with a duo of shows this weekend. Local metal outfits Witchskull and Ploughshare are set to appear on Friday while the Brass Knuckle Brass Band hit the stage on Saturday.

Both shows are taking place in the theatre’s Link Bar, creating a brand new performance space for the city’s artists to inhabit.

Canberra’s favourite and most innovative country-punk party band Snake Oil Preachers will be charming their way on to the stage at Smith’s Alternative on Saturday afternoon. According to the band, “sin, salvation, redemption and damnation” will be thrown into the melting pot with this high throttle act that’s sure to get you “toe-tapping, dancing and thanking the universe for whatever senses you have left” (if we could express it any better than they already have, we would).

Canberra rock stalwarts Sally Chicane say goodbye to founding member Kristy this Friday with an intimate farewell show at The Basement. Joining them are a trio of acts in Wesley and the Crushers, Betty Alto and newcomers Matriarch.

University of Canberra’s The Well bar is also forging ahead with a new music program. Their dinner concert series continues this weekend with an appearance from psych-rock band The Narcissists to follow on from their sold-out affair with indie-pop four-piece ARCHIE in recent weeks.
