Secretive Canberra supergroup Welly is set to make their grand debut this week with a Friday night show at Smith’s Alternative. The five-piece, who form a wildly convoluted Venn diagram of interconnected local bands, have joined forces to flesh out the songs of singer-songwriter Scoob McGoon. They’ll be joined by Slagatha Christie, Yasmine Hosseini and Slug.
On Sunday, the Jim Dusty Drive-thru Garbage Casino rolls into town for a packed out show at Gang Gang Cafe. Joined by Suli and Griffin Ford, Dusty and his band will celebrate the launch of his latest single, Aces Hi.
Elsewhere, Cathy Diver is set to support Harmony June at Smith’s on Sunday, Odette brings her Herald Tour to Kambri alongside Egoism and KYVA, Shoeb Ahmad joins Potential and Obsidian Dream for sideway band night, Sly Withers hit up UC Hub, and Sydneysiders Jackie Brown Jr drop by Gang Gang.
Oh, and The Veronicas are playing the theatre on Tuesday. Is this what every week was like in 2019?
