This Thursday at All Bar Nun in O’Connor Election08’s celebrity candidate Mark Parton will be picking up the gauntlet flung down by Adam Verwey and showing off his city management skills in the RiotACT Sim Challenge.

Will Mark be able to beat the city management ratings of his young critic? How will he actually manage a city? And what are his priorities?

Do you really want to miss out on the answers to these questions and many more?

All Bar Nun, 7pm, Thursday. Don’t be the one who missed it…

ahhh.

mrs peterh found i was coming to these events without adequate dinner. have been ordered home first. (sigh)

Sometimes I dream….

I must admit I did smoke a packet of Winfield Red a day, and two if I went out or was pulling an all nighter. Then the nice man at the Kaleen servo made me go down to blue. I quit, cold turkey, in 1992. Even the nerves in my teeth were hurting, and I was sick as a dog for six months after. But, given that I tend to have a fairly addictive personality I have done pretty well I think. Sometimes I dream I am smoking and when I wake up I can’t remember if I am a smoker or not. That’s what happens when you get older, young ‘un!

*chuckle*

… but only to other people! Don’t you worry about that!!

After last time I’m in again, even if I was rather crook on Friday and accosted by a soldier at Trinity…

Granny we all know it’s smokers cough and your generation just didn’t know better no need to make excuses now…

I still hoping one of these Sim City adventures will fall on a night when I able to come along.

I will probably see you there, peterh.

: )

Just don’t get too close, as I have managed to contract a cough recently. It makes my grannyliness all the more pronounced to have a hacking cough, so I am considering keeping it. Although I may need to get myself a spitoon, after all!

aha! may be able to get a late pass. or not. want to see mark’s results for simcity….

and catch up with mark again…

I can’t decide if Mark Parton or Val Jeffries has the worst ad so far. Although they do have an amateurish element that makes me quite enjoy them. It was mean of Zed not to let them use his nice blue backdrop. Actually, Val should’ve filmed his ad on a firetruck. It’d be like that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer gets his hands on one.

Saw Mark’s ad on TV last night featuring the single lane GDE, school closures and “Rhizome” and I thought it was a Liberal ad. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it probably is a duck.

no more ducks!

That’s weird, when I saw it I thought it was a Mark Parton ad. Probably because of all the Mark Parton in it.

Personally, someone saying “Let me be your voice of reason” is actually -asking- to be a puppet, right there in the advertising.

I’ll do an omnibus page linking to each of their efforts

Based on Mark’s performance at the ACT Light Rail candidate event… it looks like his public transport strategy for his SimCity appearance will be completely omnibus – (pun intended)

The chap looks like he’d be a ‘bunny boiler’. He’s lost my vote right there regardless of how well he’d manage the virtual city.

I’ll do an omnibus page linking to each of their efforts.

But as different candidates have different objectives we’ll avoid anything as crass as a score.

Any chance we could get a leaderboard up ranking the contenders?

I wonder if Mark will respond to the RA Survey – of particular interest will be his response to the “who do you not want to be elected” question, given that he copped it in another candidate’s response.

I knew if there loopholes, you’d know all aboutem Henry. Come on down and have a beer with me if you’re free tomorrow night.

didn’t think the cheat worked on the mac version.

Using small factors to coordinate bigger gains is just how SimCity plays out, and a symptom of management being rewarded.

Actually cheating at SimCity in front of a jeering crowd, who will then report on your cheating to their own media outlet might not be the wisest move of an election campaign.

And the candidate caught using a cheat can expect a disaster every single time.

I knew if there loopholes, you’d know all aboutem Henry. Come on down and have a beer with me if you’re free tomorrow night.

Hold down shift and type “FUND” but don;t do it more than twice a year or you’ll get an earthquake.

I’ve sent invitations to all candidates to participate & will be sending out another one this week.

As for Nero and Zed, well I haven’t heard from either camp, even though I extended an in person inviation to Zed

It would appear they don’t have the stones for it.

Me! I’ll be the one. (Substituting the Sims for the Sands of the Nature Coast.)

Have fun.
