skate in the city

Garema Place is getting pretty crowded with all the activity setting up the ice rink this afternoon.

More details on the Canberra CBD page.

It’s all meant to be kicking off on Friday.

According to the Canberra Times, this set up needs 1,000kg of salt in solution to keep the ice frozen.
Where does this chemical end up?
Also, the freezing machinery needs a lot of KWH to keep it working.
Not very eco-friendly one would think but as long as the Greens are happy who cares?

It’s green power.

Good idea.

Please do not bend some rusty poles over it otherwise Stanhope will claim at his public art.

I just had a strange thought, that it would be a lot more impressive if this was held in the middle of summer!! I’m well aware that it can’t be done but what better way to cool off on a hot summers day than to be sliding across the ice on your bum!! 🙂
