Two motorbike riders were clocked at 100 km/h over the speed limit on the weekend, according to police.

ACT Road Policing officers had been conducting speed enforcement activity on Cotter Road in Stromlo on Saturday (25 January) when, at around midday, they allegedly recorded two motorcyclists travelling at 173 km/h in a 70km/h zone.

The officers pulled the riders over and discovered one was a 22-year-old full licence holder while the other was a 28-year-old provisional licence holder.

Both were issued with immediate suspension notices, suspending their ACT drivers licences for 180 days.

They also received traffic infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit and, due to the double demerit period, both accrued 12 demerit points.
