Stanhope to explain himself on terror

Jon Stanhope is set to return to the Canberra Mosque on Friday in order to explain to our Muslim community why he chose to support Howard’s new anti-terrorism laws.

How come the rest of us don’t get a personal explanation? Is this some kind of admission that yes, the laws are going to unfairly target Muslims?

CHIEF MINISTER TO DISCUSS ANTI-TERROR LAWS WITH LOCAL MUSLIM COMMUNITY

Chief Minister Jon Stanhope will visit the Canberra Mosque on Friday to explain to local Muslim communities his decision to accept the counter-terrorism laws proposed by the Commonwealth, and to take questions.

What: Visit to Canberra Mosque
When: Friday 14 October 2005 at noon sharp (visit must conclude by 1pm before scheduled prayers)
Where: Canberra Mosque, 130 Empire Circuit, Yarralumla
