The States and Territories (including our own beloved ACT) have got together to thwart the Feds and are looking into introducing their own Kyoto style Protocols as put out in this media release.

The first report will be out later this year and I’m sure they’ll want to get something in place before any elections come up (not that it will affect the ACT or lets face it any other state).

What I personnaly want to see is the introduction of carbon trading to encourage the planting and sponsoring of tree planting by commercial organisations to offset the emmisions they let off, but thats just me.

For those that want to do something right now you can also choose to use Green(er) electricity from ACTEW here.

lean green coal fired victoria who just shitcanned wind power now want to make the fed govt look bad?

The States will surely cock it up. They are already talking about carve-outs. Western Australia has already said their industries are too important to be included.

Don’t waste your money on green power. The Mandatory Renewable Energy Target forces all electricity suppliers to purchase green energy, so you’re paying for it regardless.
