Suggestions for Installers to Retrofit a Wired Network

By mystery_editor 10 April 2012 4

Hi Rioters,

I’m looking to move my modem from it’s current mess-of-cables in the kitchen to a cupboard, but I’ll need to get someone in to do cabling (at the very least, to install a powerpoint) and was wondering if anyone had recommendations of installers. (Best quote so far is about $150/point)

Try Palmers.

Yeah give the guys at Kaz Electronics a call, they do that kind of work.

I’d get the same done, if it weren’t for the impending NBN connection (Amaroo) and the fact that will relocate the access point for the home to an as yet unknown location.

I’d expect to pay a callout fee, an hourly rate, and $50-60/point. So your first point might be $150, but subsequent ones should be exponentially cheaper.

Don’t forget to check in with TV aerial installers as well. Because of the nature of the work (eg, installing repeaters and amplifiers in the roof or floor), some have a mix of electrical and networking skills. You might as well get some Cat5e points while they’re there.

Supa Sparky on 0424 768 203 – speak to Vic. His work is of a high quality and he can be relied upon to get the job done to your satisfaction.
